Wine wheat and livestock farm for sale around Malmesbury in the West Coast District of the Western Cape South Africa.
This 1,020 ha wheat and vine farm is ideally situated only 40 minutes from Cape Town with its own access from the R315 near Malmesbury, in an above average grain production area.
Vines are produced in the area since 1759, which makes it one of the oldest wine farms in the Western Cape. Since its first days the focus was set on producing outstanding quality wines. The founders were hooked by the terroir and weather conditions. Some of the existing vines are 30 years old, resulting in unparalleled quality.
An estimated 800 ha are annually planted with wheat and 92 ha are vineyards. The vines are pinotage, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, chenin blanc, syrah, merlot, mourvedre, viognier, Grenache and ruby cabernet. A very special red-cuvee is created from the best grapes. Cattle and sheep as well as a sand/gravel mine generate additional income.
The 5 bedroom farmhouse and outbuildings, including 2 sheds, are in good repair.
Water is obtained from a fountain and a submersible pump.
A 1,000 metre runway has recently been built and it is wide enough to operate aircrafts like Beechcraft King Air Turbo-Props, or the famous Cessna Caravans. The vision is to create an aviation park. Talks are being held between European and South African aviation authorities to evaluate further steps.
